Miller Davis Selected as CM for $70M Expansion

Landscape Forms, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-design site furniture, structures, lighting, and accessories, recently marked a major milestone: the groundbreaking of its headquarters expansion project located on their current campus in Comstock, Michigan. Miller Davis will serve as construction manager for the project, overseeing the multi-year build and ensuring delivery to the quality, schedule, safety, and sustainability goals set for this transformational investment.
“The design of the new facility is built around a ‘people-first’ philosophy,” said Marjorie Simmons, CEO of Landscape Forms. “From abundant natural daylight, healthy indoor air quality, human-scale mobility, to connections to the 58-acre campus grounds, we’ve placed the well-being of our team at the center of our planning.”
The expansion will add nearly 300,000 square feet of new manufacturing space, raw material and finished goods storage, and office and support areas—creating a more efficient, integrated, and flexible environment for production and design. The added capacity will enable Landscape Forms to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen collaboration across teams, and meet growing market demand. The project is also expected to generate significant local economic impact, creating construction-phase jobs and adding approximately 125 new permanent positions to the company’s existing workforce of about 500.
The expansion features a range of environmentally conscious elements, including waste-heat recovery systems, energy-efficient LED lighting with solar readiness, and adaptive reuse of existing structures to reduce demolition waste. The site design also prioritizes wetland preservation, oak savanna and woodland restoration, and bioswale stormwater reuse to protect and enhance the natural environment.
“We’re proud to continue our long partnership with Landscape Forms,” said Jack Abate, Vice President of Miller Davis. “Working closely with Landscape Forms and SmithGroup, we’ve made sustainability a guiding principle from the very start of this expansion.”
Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2027.
