TRAVERSE CITY AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Miller Davis completed a comprehensive reconstruction of the driveways, parking lots and select sidewalks at Traverse City Area Public Schools’ West Senior High School. The project reconfigured the campus to move primary vehicle traffic to the site perimeter and parking areas to the interior, reducing the need for students and staff to cross major traffic routes and creating a safer, more intuitive flow throughout the campus.

Additional improvements included expanded heated sidewalks, enhanced site lighting and security, and updated directional signage. Construction was completed in two phases during the 2025 and 2026 summer breaks to minimize disruption to school operations.

Careful phasing and traffic planning were critical throughout the project. Temporary circulation plans were developed and implemented during Phase 1 construction in summer 2025, throughout the 2025–2026 school year while the campus operated with a combination of new and existing circulation patterns, and again during Phase 2 construction in summer 2026.
