KALAMAZOO CIVIC THEATRE

Renovations and New Copper Roof

Miller-Davis Company was the original constructor of the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, located across from Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo. The unique, historic building was built in 1931 and has been home to theater in Kalamazoo ever since.

The Theatre, which has remained largely unchanged since its original construction, was due for some updates and began capital improvements in 2017. Nearly 90 years after Miller-Davis built the building, we were hired to complete these capital improvement projects. The first improvements sought to transform the lower level of the building. The projects included adding additional bathrooms on the lower level, renovating the existing bathrooms, renovating the green room, as well as
renovations to the basement and stairways. Miller-Davis Company self-performed the general trades work for the lower level renovations.

The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre still had its original copper roof. The nearly 90-year-old roof reached the end of its lifespan and Miller-Davis managed the installation of a new copper roof.
