GERALD R. FORD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility

Miller Davis was honored to oversee the construction of Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Facility. This $14.5 million state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in passenger safety, operational efficiency, and community resilience for the Airport Authority’s dedicated 19-member ARFF team.

Spanning 25,000 square feet, the facility is thoughtfully designed to meet the 24/7 demands of the ARFF team, whose mission is to ensure rapid response to aviation incidents. The ARFF team’s critical role requires an expansive, well-equipped space for rescuing passengers, minimizing property damage, and conducting salvage operations. The facility features extensive vehicle bays to house advanced firefighting vehicles, specialized equipment, and expanded areas dedicated to intensive training and education. As a new addition to the Airport Operations Center, it also supports mutual aid training with partner agencies, strengthening community-wide emergency preparedness.

Completed in early 2025, this facility sets new standards for airport safety infrastructure, affirming the Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s role as a leader in aviation safety and community engagement.
