CITY OF KALAMAZOO
The Crosstown Justice Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan was originally constructed by Miller-Davis Company in 1955 as a retail store and was converted to medical office use in 1983. The 108,000 square foot, two story facility was completely remodeled by Miller-Davis in 2002 for the City’s Department of Public Safety and Kalamazoo County’s District and Probate Court functions. A state-of-the-art Crime Laboratory was created along with computer aided dispatch and enhanced 911 equipment.
Remodeling for the Crosstown Justice Center Facility was the City of Kalamazoo’s first ever experience with the Construction Management project delivery approach. Miller-Davis Company completed the improvements on time and under budget at a cost of approximately $9.8 million through a Construction Manager/Constructor form of agreement. Architectural/Engineering services were provided by Eckert Wordell Architects.
