Brief Description
Miller-Davis Company seeks a highly organized and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Safety Engineer. This role will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of safety and health programs are administered and implemented effectively, including record-keeping and safety education.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the company General Superintendent, Project Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and workers to promote a culture of safety and adherence to safety regulations.
- Maintain current safety regulation materials, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Toolbox Talks, and other safety and health reference materials for file and distribution to Superintendents and all other users.
- Prepare and process all necessary safety and accident reporting forms as required by the Miller-Davis Company Safety Program, OSHA, MIOSHA, IOSHA, or others.
- Assist with preparing and distributing annual injury reporting documents (300 forms) and post as required.
- Review and process jobsite safety inspections, accident, and incident reports.
- Participate in pre-job planning meetings with Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and General Superintendent before on-site operations begin, to arrive at definite conclusions on all safety precautions to be taken, including health and environmental requirements.
- Measure and report to the General Superintendent on overall compliance of job sites with the Miller-Davis Safety Program.
- Verify each Miller-Davis jobsite maintains up-to-date employee literature, posters, adequate safety equipment, PPE, first aid supplies, and fire prevention equipment.
- Participate in Company and industry-sponsored safety programs, meetings, and continuing safety education.
- Make recommendations for continuing safety and health education for Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and other workers.
- Participate in periodic meetings with insurance company safety consultants to review and improve Company safety procedures.
- Monitor Subcontractor compliance with Miller-Davis Company safety and insurance requirements.
- Prepare and implement jobsite/site-specific safety protocols as necessary.
- Integrate safety programs to raise awareness, motivate, and encourage employee participation.
- Prepare and implement emergency action plans for office, yard, and field offices.
- Perform any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the Company.

- CPR & first aid training/certification
- College education and/or prior construction experience. Basic PC skills.
