Miller-Davis does not view construction and safety separately, but as construction integrated with safety. We require everyone involved with our projects to aid in the improvement of all aspects of safety and accident prevention. We are proactively committed to providing a safe workplace for our clients, tradespeople, the public and all other project participants.
While everyone at Miller-Davis is actively committed to safety, our Safety Coordinator works extensively with the Project Superintendent to provide overall management and implementation of the Miller-Davis Safety Program.
Jobsite safety is a top priority on every Miller-Davis jobsite and we take great pride in the outstanding safety record we have achieved. Miller-Davis, combined with our labor force, have surpassed two years and over 250,000 man hours without a lost-time incident. We take whatever steps necessary to provide the safest environment for everyone involved. By example, the safety program we implemented for the $60 million WMU New Sangren Hall project resulted in completion of nearly 400,000 total project labor hours with only one minor injury involving a cut finger.
Miller-Davis has achieved an excellent EMR rating from our insurance carrier. Our 2016 EMR is 0.65, and the previous two years was 0.62 and 0.66, respectively.
Due to our commitment to safety Miller-Davis Company has been awarded the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Michigan Outstanding Safety Performance Award for achieving a zero injury incident rate in 2015.
